About Sacred Sunset Services

I am committed to offering support and guidance during end-of-life transitions as well as offering grief support. I can provide emotional, spiritual, and practical assistance to families. Creating a peaceful transition and nurturing loving connections are my top priorities.

What is an End-of-Life Doula?

An end-of-life doula is a NON-MEDICAL support professional who provides holistic, emotional, and spiritual care for those who want to prepare for the end of their life (with or without a terminal diagnosis).  An end-of-life doula acts as a guide who supports families and their dying loved ones as they go through the death experience.  An EOL doula can also provide grief support after loss, both to families and to eldercare professionals.

About Me

My name is Kathi, and as a trained doula, I am qualified to help families navigate the emotional complexities of end-of-life situations.

Services Offered

I assist in creating personalized end-of-life plans that reflect the wishes and values of the individual.

Pricing

When life feels especially overwhelming, and decision-making feels challenging, it can be hard to plan logistics smoothly. That’s why I offer pricing up front,  so you can stay focused on your bigger priorities.

All of my services are $100/hour.  If we decide to work together after our initial free 20 minute connection call, the next step will be a consultation call where we will make a plan  together about how I can meet your needs.  I set aside 2 hours for this to ensure adequate time to cover everything. Moving forward, you can certainly continue to pay my hourly rate, or, you may find it more convenient to take advantage of one of the packages I offer.  These packages are paid upfront, and I will track and share with you all of the hours we contract for.

In-person services include up to 70 miles round trip travel; above this, you can either pay additional mileage or we can work virtually.

Anyone who invites Kathi into their life during such an important and tender time will be met with kindness, respect, and genuine love. She is truly one of those rare people who bring light and peace wherever they go.  --Jeanna

What people are saying

Hear from the folks who have gotten to know me!

Kozan says...

Kathi is a real one. During my time working with Kathi, I witnessed her gifts for connecting with patients and their families at the end of life. She is deeply compassionate, grounded, and has a natural gift for listening and responding from the heart. It is a rare thing for someone to dedicate themselves to serving those who are faced with navigating the inevitable challenges of the dying process. Kathi supports those with whom she works to make this process meaningful, dignified and sacred.

Cindy says...

I met Kathi during a very difficult and challenging time in my life. While we met in an online group I immediately felt her compassion and kindness. I had the honor to meet her in person a year later and the connection was one that for most would take a lifetime to develop. Over the years she has been an incredible lifeline for me in many situations, listening without judgment, and helping to break the issues down into manageable steps. Most recently, my husband had been in remission from a rare, agressive and hard to treat cancer. We found he relapsed the beginning of this year. Kathi checked in with me every day, and when I was overwhelmed she was there to listen and just be with me. Helen Keller once said "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched-they must be felt with the heart". I have witnessed that Kathi truly touches the hearts of all those she meets.

Pam says...

Kathi is one of the most compassionate, caring people I’ve had the honor to meet. As a mentor in an organization that deals with the deepest grief and loss, Kathi has led others through the journey of grief with empathy and a quiet calmness, creating a sacred space for any family member going through the most difficult circumstances. Kathi holds each heart she connects to with the delicate hands of someone who has experienced loss herself.

FAQ's

Since many are not familiar with end-of-life doulas, I've tried to anticipate some common questions.  Feel free to reach out if you have questions that are not answered here!

Q: How does an end-of-life doula differ from hospice care?

A: While both provide support during the end-of-life, hospice care focuses on medical needs and pain management, whereas a doula offers non-medical support, such as emotional guidance, practical assistance, and companionship. An end-of-life doula is able to offer a great amount of flexibility and creativity in their role.

Q: When should I consider hiring an end-of-life doula?

A: It’s never too early to engage an end-of-life doula. Many people find it beneficial to have a doula’s support from the time of a terminal diagnosis, through the progression of illness, and into the final days and moments. Some actually like to plan years in advance!

Q: What should I expect during the first meeting with a doula?

A: The first meeting typically involves discussing your needs, wishes, and concerns. The doula will explain their services, answer any questions, and begin to understand how they can best support you and your family.

Q: What if my needs change during the end-of-life process?

A: End-of-life doulas are flexible and adaptable, capable of adjusting their support to meet changing needs and circumstances. They work closely with you to ensure your evolving wishes and requirements are respected.
